Consider the lilies of the field,
How they grow, how they grow.
Consider the birds in the sky,
How they fly, how they fly.
He clothes the lilies of the field.
He feeds the birds in the sky.
And He will feed those who trust Him,
And guide them with His eye.
Consider the sheep of His fold,
How they follow where He leads.
Though the path may wind across the mountains,
He knows the meadows where they feed.
He clothes the lilies of the field.
He feeds the birds in the sky,
And He will feed those who trust Him,
And guide them with His eye.
Consider the sweet, tender children
Who must suffer on this earth.
The pains of all of them He carried
From the day of His birth.
He clothes the lilies of the field,
He feeds the lambs in His fold,
And He will heal those who trust Him,
And make their hearts as gold.
He clothes the lilies of the field,
He feeds the lambs in His fold,
And He will heal those who trust Him,
And make their hearts as gold.

We chose Consider the lilies, as the theme of this website for many reasons. This song has spoken to my spirit in times of grief. It is a witness that the lord is aware of each and everyone of us. Specific to the purpose of this site- it speaks to the sweet tender children who have suffered on this earth and how he carries their pain. He will heal those who trust him and make their hearts as gold.
With the backdrop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we seek to bring a message of hope & healing to those of all faiths. Geared towards survivors of childhood sexual abuse, much applies to all areas of life. We hope this website is a source of comfort, peace, & professional knowledge for all survivors & loved ones. Although, the authors are a therapist & survivor, we also hope to highlight a multitude of perspectives, including yours as you strive for healing.

This is a very tender song. It shows us how to experience the Atonement as we trust Him in our suffering. He WILL heal as we have the desire to heal. The challenge is in the trust. I believe that "Survivors" of childhood sexual abuse are taught through the abuse not to trust. It almost becomes an instinct.
ReplyDeleteSo the challenge is presented, how do we allow ourselves to trust? How do we begin to trust the Healer?
Thank you for your comments. I would love for others to comment on this. Also look to the blog on trust above.
